Ten criteria for a good research report
- A clear, simple and precise title that tells readers what the research is about.
- A summary/synopsis/abstract that summarizes the whole report/article
- An introduction that clarifies the research problem being addressed and its significance.
- A review of the relevant literature, which shows how the study being reported is located.
- A clear statement of research questions or hypotheses.
- A clear account of how the data were collected and an indication of the limitations of the methods used..
- A clear account of how the data were analysed and an indication of the limitations of the methods used.
- A well laid out section showing the findings or results in terms of answers to research questions or proof of hypotheses.
- A clear discussion of the significance of the findings, conclusions that can be drawn and any implications or recommendations.
- A list of references and possibly appendices.
