Anthropometric data is quoted for nude or
lightly clothed people in standard postures so sometimes
adjustments must be made
for posture and clothing.
People do not normally stand or sit in the
erect postures used for taking measurements so some adjustment can be
made for ¡¥slump¡¦ or more ¡¥natural¡¦ postures.
For seating it is sometimes recommended that
40mm are subtracted from sitting dimensions.
Clothing corrections are generally quite
small and need to be made after considering the practical situations in
which the design will be used.
Shoes would add about 20 to 30mm for men and
40 to 50mm for women to height and related dimensions, but it must be
remembered that women can wear very high heels sometimes.
Clothing can involve quite large corrections
when heavy work clothes or protective clothes are worn as would, for
example, be required for work in a cold climate. |
