Features:

1) Body:         Body cylindrical.
2) Head:         Eye large, interorbital flat.
3) Dorsal fin: 1st VII spines, 2nd I spine 8 rays
    Anal fin:     I spine, 7 rays
    Caudal fin: Forked
4) Scale:         Body scale cetnoid.
5) Color:        Body orange, lower lateral grey. Fins with red speckles other than pectoral fins.
6) Size:          Attains 30cm TL, common size 20cm TL, specimen size 15cm TL.


Distribution:         Western Pacific: Japan as far north as Hokkaido and Korea south to Taiwan
                             and Hong Kong.
Habitat:                Shore fish, migrates to deeper waters in winter.
Economy:             Commercial fish with fairly high price. By capture fishery, no/rarely aquaculture.
Specimen found:  Bought at Yue Wan Estate Market, Chai Wan, Hong Kong
Cooking Method: Soup.
