Characteristic Features

Circular shell with similar, small ears. Fine, concentric straie. About 25 radial ribs on inside of each valve. Left valve pale reddish purple rayed with fine, bluish lines. Right valve white.
Habitat

Occuring in 5 - 80 m deep, sandy bottom.

~80 - 100 mm (shell length)

Indian Ocean to West Pacific.
Commercial
fishery		 Economically important.The taste of the scallop is delicious, either being freshly served or prepared as dried food. Because of its gifted color, people always reuse them as ornaments.
