We offer 1-2 PhD studentships annually.

Research positions are available. Experienced candidates can apply for Senior Research Assistant or Research Associate. Please email Prof. Yao your full CV or resume directly.
Undergraduate students who seek for lab experience are welcome to contact Prof. Yao directly.
 

 
PhD studentship at City University of Hong Kong
Financial Support:
  • CityU PhD studentships offer a stipend of ~ $HK 17,800 per month, 12 months per year;
  • additional tuition scholarships and travel funds are available basesd on academic performance;

English Proficiency Requirements:

  • a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based); or
  • a minimum overall band score of 6.5 in IELTS; or
  • a score of 490 in the Chinese mainland’s College English Test Band 6; or
  • other test scores that may be regarded as equivalent to TOEFL 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based);
Tips for successful application:
  • a higher GPA in Bachelor and/or Master (M.Phil.) study;
  • more publication in peer-reviewed international journal;
  • communication with Dr. Yao to show your knowledge and confidence for PhD study.
 

 

Interdisciplinary PhD Programme in Veterinary Medicine with Cornell University

Qualified candidates can be enrolled in the Interdisciplinary PhD Program in Veterinary Medicine between City University of Hong Kong and Cornell Univeristy College of Veterinary Medicine. More details of the joint program can be found here.
 
Remark: We have trained two PhD graduates with our collaborators at Cornell University on nanomaterial development and drug/vaccine delivery.
